My goodness. I don't know which will wreck you more, this or Hotel Rwanda. I watched this back when I was a teenager and this really touched me so deeply. I never forgot this movie.

While the world turned a blind eye, the country of Rwanda became the epicenter of hell. What I love about this film is that it gives you some insight into how the victims and perpetrators of these atrocities carried on after the killing finally stopped. The film gives you a sense of the brutality and senselessness of it all, it conveys the fear and terror of those being essentially "hunted" for extermination. You see these unfortunate people Last but not least there is insight as to why the world just stood by and did essentially nothing.

I remember seeing some of this when it came out. It's disgusting to see how quickly ignorance and hatred lead to violence. Hard to watch human beings doing this to each other, it's just sickening. Shades of Hitler. I'm half German and i'm not proud of it because of the genocide attached to that heritage. I am ashamed of what the Germans did and horrified that this disregard for human life in the name of beliefs or politics is still going on. So sad....

A very moving portrayal of life and death during the horrific ordeal of genocide in Rwanda. I truly wish this kind of otrocity never happens again, but all the time there is politicians and religion in the world I fear this wish will never come true.

If you really want to find out a bit more about the genocide in Rwanda of 1994, this is THE movie to go! It's a wonderful, yet uncompromisingly sad and bitter movie. Whereas "Hotel Rwanda" was more like Schindlers List in Africa, more focusing on a Hollywood-like hero & love story, "Sometimes in April" leads you right into the very depths of hell.
