Lol...Need something to watch until Downton resumes? If you're like me and enjoy a 'Period Piece', I highly recommend each of these wonderful series: Aristocrats (1999), Call the Midwife (2012), City of Vice (2008), Cranford (2007), John Adams (2008), Lark Rise To Candleford (2008 - Lol...Not 1970, as listed!), Middlemarch (1994), North and South (2004), The Crimson Petal and the White (2010), and The Paradise (2012). All shows are listed alphabetically - not by preference - and are found here at PrimeWire under 'TV Selections'... Lol...Or, by looking at my personal 'Favourites'! Each superb mini-series was produced in the UK, by the BBC, with John Adams (2008) being the single exception. Enjoy!

When is Thomas going to get a boyfriend? I know he's not a very nice person and can be vindictive at times but I think he'd be a lot more likable with a love interest. It's been 5 seasons now so I think it's about time.

If I were to have past lives .. the last life I lived was in the 1920's wearing those luscious clothes I want to rip from this show and wear. Every single bejeweled dress, frock, scarf, hat and long coat on this show is an amazing masterpiece. I love this show, always have, it is not only calming and quietly scandalous in an English way but the wardrobe director needs to get kidnapped and brought to my house to dress me four times a day... Breakfast, tea, dinner and of course a night out at a torrid speakeasy with that wild cousin! Great show, characters you somehow love and want to be around and a Grannie who is Queen of all Grannies to come out with the kind of wit and sarcasm that only a true, older LADY could pull off! One of the best shows on TV! So innocent and easy... such a guilty pleasure. I will be crushed when it is over. But they can send all those clothes to my address in NY.... lol

This series is amazing. Even if you're not into period dramas, it's bound to please you. Maggie Smith as the grandmother is hilarious! And the christmas special made me so happy that I was smiling like an idiot. :D Can't wait for 3rd season (starting september 2012)!!

There was a 5-episode series on PBS called 'Secrets of the Manor Home' and it discussed the decline of country houses like Downton Abbey. I wish it were on Primewire... :( The second episode is all about the castle where DA is filmed: Highclere Castle. The interiors on the show are the actual interiors of the castle, too(!!) and it is open for tours periodically.

Downton Abbey represents a microcosm of everything: gender inequality, class structure, sexual violence, sexual orientation, tradition, progress, familial relations, death, love, loss, fashion, epigrammatic wit, race relations and miscegenation, the Dowager Countess, limitations of coupledom, and pretty much anything else you can imagine, sociologically.

Season Six is a brilliant wrap-up to the entire series, a great mix of expected and surprises, enough loose ends for the upcoming Christmas Special episode. Just enough of a send off that I feel all the characters of whom I've become fond are safe for the duration.

If you can't get enough Downton Abbey, you'll find several of your favorite actors from the show in a movie from 2009 called, From Time to Time.

while you wait for season 5, I recommend 'The Village' and 'The Mill', I'm enjoying them as much as Downton Abbey :)

For those of you asking/wondering about Season 4 - It looks like it will be airing in the UK in September 2013, and airing in the US in January 2014. So hopefully this site will have uploads when it airs in the UK.

I cannot get over how amazing this show is to binge watch over and over again. The characters are fantastic, the plots are great, and I just adore Lady Grantham ; she always makes me laugh. This show will get you so emotionally invested in the characters without your realizing it until it makes you cry. Even the characters you hate will make you cry in their more emotional moments. I could NOT believe the first time I had feels and actually cried out of pity and empathy on more than one occasion for a certain character I'd always wanted to reach through the screen and punch! This show is one of a kind; yes, there are other period dramas, yes, there are others that are based around the general idea.. but there will never be another Downton Abbey. Nothing will capture the magic that this show has. I honestly didn't think I was going to like it; I've never been a huge fan of British dramas, they're often too dry for my tastes. But this show sucked me in from the very first episode and kept me hooked right until the all-too-soon end. I wish this show could have gone on for many more seasons, and it breaks my heart that it had to end. But I will always rewatch it, and it will always hold a place in my heart of utmost adoration for so many reasons beyond those I've already stated. If you don't think you'll like this show but are on the fence about giving it a go... do it. Give it a couple of episodes if you aren't as captivated as I was by the first; chances are it'll grow on you before you know it. It really is one of those shows that comes along so rarely, but is so incredibly worth the watch.

This is an amazing show!! The cast is great and the drama is continuous. I do believe this is the same house on Pride and Prejudice(Rosings). I describe this show as something Jane Austin would have written while on her period. lol
