As a lifelong fan of the original series, I thought it was a great remake. I think people just went into it expecting something more close to the original. If you go into it with an open mind you'll enjoy it. Don't listen to the negative comments.

I love the original series, but I have to say this remake is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my entire life. Big insult to the original series. Not because Robert Englund didn't reprise his role as Freddy, but because it was just laugh out loud terrible. Bad effects, bad acting, bad story-telling. Everything was bad bad bad. I'm not one to judge films poorly like this, but I thought this was downright abysmal. 1/5.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It lacks much of the humour of the original, opting instead for a darker, more serious overall tone, but it works. It's a pretty solid slasher all around. Of the three classic slashers that have been remade in the past decade (Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Nightmare on Elm Street), this is definitely my favourite.

If I didn't know how awesome the original was then I might of liked this movie a little bit more. Otherwise it was just ok to me.

I remember not liking this movie when it first came out, but today I liked it. It was good, lots of horror, it's less comical than the original, it's taken a darker realistic storyline about freddie. But still I like it, it's different. Connie brighton was pretty cool in this one, even if she was just a supporting character...

I don't like what they did to Freddy's character in this one. They made him into a creep and nothing likeable about him

okay, rating the NOES movies, i'd go 4,1,3,6,2,5. weird to watch Freddy knowing it ain't Englund but Haley was a superb successor, loved the voice, didn't care for the rat face though, thought that was pretty funny. really, really great. 9/10

I always loved the Nightmare on Elm Street.. and this movie was not bad either. But Robert Englund was so much better as Fred Krueger!

horror movies really need to start becoming good again. There was no need for this remake, however it was watchable. but nothing new at all. Freddy is still a classic horror character though and you gotta love him. 6******

I'm not suprised i did like this movie, but I can't compare this to the original films. I liked how they change freddy krueger to be more... scarier.. like.. And wes had actually though of freddy krueger as a child molester first, not a child killer and i liked this new twist. I love the old freddy krueger and wished they had used robert englund in this movie, but the guy who played freddy wasn't that bad. I felt like, freddy got more scarier, and I understood the anger for the parents alot, like it's not a kinda guy you would have around your kids, not saying that about the guy in the original films either though. But I think they got more of a history, and reason behind the things that happened and I really liked how they placed the puzzled together and really made me wonder what happened, cause you didn't know the story at all. Who was he? What had he done? I really liked how they answered the questions slowly but surely, and they really got me hooked on the movie. It was exciting and intereresting, though, i wished freddy talked more and we got to see him some more in the movie. They could also made the movie more unforeseen and make you jump out the couch and not have this excpected "scary scenes" but after all,I think it's really good. I hope they will make a sequel but also talk to wes about the movie and work with him though. But in all the movie is really good. This doen't beat the original of course. They will always be the best. I will give this movie a 7\10 atleast I think maybe 8\10.

This was the first freddy movie I ever saw, and at that time, I though it was really good, but as now, I've seen the old ones, and I don't know what I think of it though. I will watch this again to check out my new opinion on it , and I will recommend to see this before you see all the original ones, because when you do, you will be more sceptical to the new ones.

Whoever wrote the script should be fired. First, they build up Freddy's character as an anti-hero, with a backstory showing how he was wronged. Then, they completely pull the rug out and troll the audience. It's a shame, because they had a chance to make this a great re-imagining of the franchise.

I grew up on the originals Nightmares. I have to admit I did like this version of it not comparing it to the originals. But I swear that is Robert Englund as the class photographer behind the camera when they play the memory sequence going back in time on the photograph. I know that is his hair/hair line...lol but I did not see that charter named in the credits. So I think it was him just doing a cameo for his fans.

I waited a long time to watch this so I wouldn't find myself comparing it to the original. But I have to say other than the end I found it lacking in the horror department. However you may like it if you are not familiar with the original. You be the judge. 5/10
