Awful remake. Draggy. I dislike this new Freddy. He looks skinny and frail, making him look much less imposing. They kept the killing scene when the girl died in her bedroom and flew around on the walls, but other than that, this movie is completly different from the original. The storyline was changed to explain how Freddy became Freddy. Don't know what to make of it. There is alot of useless annoying jump scares that had all the little girls in the audience, of whom it was past their bedtime, scream every two seconds. After I yelled "SHUT UP!" several times, another guy would yell "Your mom should have swallowed you!" or "Go piss yourselves!" Sadly to say, the audience was more entertaining than the movie.

I love A Nightmare on Elm Street series, but you guys really need to let Robert Englund rest after making over 8 films and a tv show based around this character. The man is getting old and we eventually have to get a new actor to play Freddy Krueger. I thought Jackie Earle Haley was perfect since he played a pedophile in Little Children and a psychopath in Watchmen. Both are perfect personalities for Freddy Krueger. Now I admit that this movie left nothing to the imagination and we knew everytime someone was going to get killed off. I wasn't scared one bit and the original still gives me chills. I think it was the direction and the fact Michael Bay produced it, he's usually known for making more entertaining than scary films and I was entertained by this. JEH made Freddy's character more serious than funny while throwing in a few jokes to stay true to his roots. Freddy became so cartoonish, but redeemed himself in New Nightmare because he did less jokes and more psychological torture not being able to tell the real and dream world apart. That's what this movie needed. I can see how people don't like this movie, but to say they can't make a Nightmare film without Robert is stupid. Freddy and Jason are going to live forever in movies, only difference is it's easier to replace Jason and not have people complain.

If you're a fan of all the others DO NOT WATCH THIS! I don't think I've ever been so pissed in my life, why the hell would you make Jackie Earle Harley into Freddy Krueger? Robert Englund is still alive the last time I checked and a I know that Harley had been with the Nightmare crew since the beginning but WHY!? He tried so hard to make the same type of voice that Robert Englund always did for Freddy but destroyed it! And why the hell did they decide after all these years to do a remake of the first!? Tell me that they aren't gonna re-do the whole franchise with Harley or something stupid like that. Ugh gotta put my rage aside and at least give it a 2/5 just for the fact that they're trying to revive the story.

robert englund was the best freddy and this new dude sucked didnt really look like freddy just looked like he had stockings on and if you paid attention it kinda had a bad message to kids here that message don't tell yo parents if you are being touched and having pictures taking of you naked or a psycho serial killer rapist /nightmare might come and get you in your sleep lol thats what this movie said to me

Ok I knew going in that this movies was going to be different from the original, I knew Freddy would be different because they didn't use Englund, but oh my god. They totally butchered the storyline. It had nothing to do with the original in anyway other then the fact he kills you in your sleep. They didn;t use any of the original death scenes at all. How can you not do the fountain of blood? Its one of the things that made the movie iconic in the first place. It blows my feakin mind. and the acting? I have seen some bad acting in my day, the girl playing Nancy takes the cake. Theres 90 min of my life I will never get back. At least I watched it on here instead of shelling out 8 bucks for a ticket. If you want to watch A Nightmare on Elmstreet, do yourself a favor and watch the original. I pray to all that is holy and just that we don't get anymore garbage like this. They ruined Freddy. They ruined Jason. They ruined Leatherface. They ruined Micheal. Let us pray that someone doesn't get the idea to remake Hellraiser and ruin Pinhead.

Yes, disappointing. I see why they passed on little Jackie Earle back in the day. He is no Freddy Kruger. 2.5/5

I remember not liking this movie when it first came out, but today I liked it. It was good, lots of horror, it's less comical than the original, it's taken a darker realistic storyline about freddie. But still I like it, it's different. Connie brighton was pretty cool in this one, even if she was just a supporting character...

I still love the original film (It gave me nightmares as a kid), but the warning signs were there when I saw Michael Bay's name attached to this remake! It wasn't that good and like most remakes; it was kind of pointless, offering nothing new. It certainly had its moments but the pacing just seemed totally wrong to me and suffered from a complete absence of scares and suspense. I'll stick to the original.

horror movies really need to start becoming good again. There was no need for this remake, however it was watchable. but nothing new at all. Freddy is still a classic horror character though and you gotta love him. 6******

Whoever wrote the script should be fired. First, they build up Freddy's character as an anti-hero, with a backstory showing how he was wronged. Then, they completely pull the rug out and troll the audience. It's a shame, because they had a chance to make this a great re-imagining of the franchise.

okay, so i grew up on nightmare on elm street and i have to say i donot like this one due to the character choices, everyone knows that in the origional one Nancy clearly beat freddys ass n thas y i relly liked her. she wuz the only one that stood up to him and n this one i jus feel like they kind of made her out tu b a punk. other than that it is watchable and i give 8/10
