The Limey: An ex-con, fresh out of prison, goes to L.A. to try to learn who murdered his daughter. However, he quickly finds that he is completely out of place with no understanding of the culture he finds. His investigations are helped by another ex-con. Together they learn that his daughter had been having an affair with a record producer, who is presently having an affair with another young woman. An aging actress, who also knew his daughter, forces him to look at his own failures as a father. The movie does focus on the drama of the situation and the inter-relationships of the characters and seldom slips into an action piece.

Bacchus, I think that's exactly the point. Rather than follow conventional editing techniques, Soderbergh doesn't clarify the relationship between past, present and future by means of continuity editing. The question of whether our past affects our future is what informs this film's editing.

If you actually enjoy watching a movie and not just sitting there with your phone in your hand half the time you will understand this movie and enjoy it like a few of us commentators did. I admit the editing was a bit different at first but thats what I like about movies, originality. As postcronicita said "The question of whether our past affects our future is what informs this film's editing." Glad I ignored the negative comments!

A good blend of British gangster style and Hollywood. Stamp is as ruthless in this role as he is charismatic.

Soderbergh's suspenseful thriller about an old English gangster (stamp) who travels to LA to look for the killer of his daughter. This film has a unique style, which i loved. Great direction, great mood, set up the suspense real well. It is very well written as well, funny at times, and just chilling for the most part. Luis Guzman was great as always, a very underrated supporting actor. Great scenery (I have personally been to all the locations used in this film) A very solid revenge thriller.

Stamp is always good value, but this movie tries to be too clever and the editing actually detracts from the viewing experience. Could have been a really good movie with another director.

9/10 really enjoyed this for what is was.....a dude who leads a life of crime gets outta jail and finds his daughter dead...and like any dad/daughter movie ass is kicked! but not so much hostage style and seldom slips into an action piece :) however it makes u think...a piece on life...and some guy said they don't go in to enuff detail about the diff characters thats life i think they showed the rite amount

Definitely not as I'd expected. Great acting throughout, and the unique way the plot thickened was a refreshing twist. Unfortunately, for me, the lack of payoff at the end kinda spoiled it. All in all Terence Stamp was awesome, but I was expecting a bit more action and bit less confusion. 7/10

It had a good idea, I guess it was well executed as a film but the director had this vision of how it should be edited that didn't make any sense to me. Having said that, I still am glad I watched it, but still scratching my head as to why things were done the way they were. 7/10

Terence Stamp is an excellent actor, but I felt his English accent was overdone unnecessarily throughout the film, such that it almost became annoying (something I never thought I'd never say about English English). I was a bit disappointed with this film. I certainly wasn't on the edge of my seat, and didn't find anything very "thrilling". The plot and characters didn't develop much - both were quite boring. In reference to time, the main character was thinking over what had happened, etc, hence the disorderly manner of the scenes, people speaking and so on. When we think about past events, our minds are a mass of thoughts, often changing slightly each time we look back. We mostly try to sort these out, to keep them clear. That's how I understood it.

Terence Stamp gives his usual good performance in this visually pleasing movie. I'm not sure though that I 'got' the message the director was sending. Good camera work. 3.5/5 Thank you linkers

The movie went back and forth way too much. In addition it superimposed the past with the present. It didn't flow smoothly. Great actors though. Good crew.6/10
