Night of the Lepus: Cole Hillman's Arizona ranch is plagued with 'mongrel' rabbits, and he wants to employ an ecologically sound control method. As a favor to college benefactor Hillman, college president Elgin Clark calls in zoologist Roy Bennett to help. Bennett immediately begins injecting rabbits with hormones and genetically mutated blood in an effort to develop a method of disrupting rabbit reproduction. One of the test subjects escapes, resulting in a race of bloodthirsty, wolf-sized, man-, horse-, and cow-eating bunnies. Eventually the National Guard is called in for a final showdown with the terrorizing rabbits.

I've often heard the term "guilty pleasure" used to describe something some folks might find embarrassing to admit they like. Well personally I find no "guilt" in my enjoyment of this film. Classic B movie horror cheese at it's finest. It's interesting to note that when they released the posters and trailers for this film they were careful to never include an actual shot/image of the giant rabbits. They wanted to keep folks guessing as to what the "monsters" were. Sneaky, sneaky. That said the film was a commercial failure but has garnered a good sized cult following. Nothing to take seriously but a very fun film to enjoy and share a few laughs with some friends over. I recommend it.

All I can say is it ain't Gone With The Wind. It is a funny bunny movie. As usual well meaning scientists lose control of the situation. That was clear when they let their daughter play with the research subjects. It pleased me that no one thought that radiation might be involved. That has been done to death. DeForest Kelley and Janet Leigh put in dead pan performances.Jerry Dunphy the late news anchor from KNXT, KCAL and KABC in the Los Angeles area plays a bit part. This should not be viewed by small children or members of PETA. There is footage of hordes of rabbits being exterminated. The rabbits do get a measure of revenge. Why can't we mammals get along? 6/10
