Fantastic. Anthony Hopkins performance called back to the Hannibal we came to know and love from silence of the lambs. Ralph Fiennes is spectacular. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat.

If you want to see the original, called Manhunter... look in my "Scream Cinema" playlist. Personally, although Anthony Hopkins is definitely the man, I prefer this one. It's made by director Michael Mann... and it's a masterpiece! There are lots of other great ones in there too. 5/5

It's a good movie but have to say this not the best of the series: it seems miscast except for Tony and PSH.I think Ralph Fiennes is a great actor but he seemed too frail for the depiction of the Red Dragon;the role needed more meat so someone with a greater physical presence and less pycho-analyzing of his split personality- D. is a beast, full stop. I thought Ted Levine was wonderful in the Silence of the Lambs. Ed Norton also appears to be just passing by or reading the script.Needless to say, PSH is always at the top of his form.

Such an excellent movie. I love love love Ralph Fiennes in this. The juxtaposition of his two "personas;" the shy, quiet, tender young man he is with the blind girl and the murderous psychopath he becomes as "the dragon" is so brilliantly portrayed, and makes him a uniquely sympathetic antagonist. Edward Norton also turns in a wonderful performance as the uncannily talented profiler, and of course, Anthony Hopkins is, as always, unforgettable as everyone's favourite cannibalistic serial killer. In some ways, I almost feel this is a stronger film than Silence of the Lambs. At the very least, it certainly rises to meet the high standards set by SotL and is an equally excellent chapter in the Hannibal Lector saga.

I just finished watching this for the first time in at least eight years. It was as good as I remembered it to be.I had just learned that there was another movie similar to this called manhunter, which I really want to watch now, to compare the two if nothing else, as I have heard great things. (though nobody I have yet spoken with has been able to confirm if it is indeed an original and this a remake or if they are just surprisingly similar).

Decent film. Not the best Hannibal film (obviously), but still pretty decent. Great to watch before Silence of the Lambs (as the ending directly leads into it). 7.5/10. Superb acting from Anthony Hopkins and Ralph Fiennes, as usual.

This was a great prequel. Even better than Silence of the Lambs. Loved it.

The worst of all the Lector films, Edward Norton is so badly miscast. The original; Manhunter is far, far superior.

This is really good . It's better than the second sequel, that was still enjoyable though. The silence of the lambs and this are a really great watch. Although The silence of the lambs is my favorite, this isn't far off. 9/10
