Baraka: Without words, cameras show us the world, with an emphasis not on "where," but on "what's there." It begins with morning, natural landscapes and people at prayer: volcanoes, water falls, veldts, and forests; several hundred monks do a monkey chant. Indigenous peoples apply body paint; whole villages dance. The film moves to destruction of nature via logging, blasting, and strip mining. Images of poverty, rapid urban life, and factories give way to war, concentration camps, and mass graves. Ancient ruins come into view, and then a sacred river where pilgrims bathe and funeral pyres burn. Prayer and nature return. A monk rings a huge bell; stars wheel across the sky.

This should be required viewing by all of humanity. The follow-up film - Samsara - should be as well but Baraka is absolutely perfect. I highly recommend seeking out a revival cinema showing this film as it's absolutely breathtaking seeing it on a big screen with the sound at 11. It was originally shown in 70mm and the blu-ray comes from an 8k scan of the 65mm negative so the resolution is just gorgeous.

The best movie ever? For me, it just might be. It's the one that makes me feel the most grateful to be alive, and makes me yearn for the experience of another day on this amazing Earth school journey. 10/10.

Haven't seen any thing like this before, utterly beautiful, unforgiving merciless, brutal. Something that should just quit us doing all the horrible things that we as human do to ourselves, to our nature that sustains our own existence and to our own fellow species whom we brutalizes, manipulate, enslave and dominate.

Amazing, Some of the most beautiful places on earth filmed by some of the most talented cinematographers ever, gives us an unforgettable tale told with solelyalmost only pictures themselves with almost no dialogue. BEAUTIFUL. If anything this inspired me to keep traveling to see more of the vast beauties out there and reminded me as amazing as something looks on screen no mATTER HOW great your H-H-HDX200099xtreme3Dpro stupid T.V's and "virtual Reality are, NOTHING compares and can truly express a places awe and astonishment as actualy being there. It's almost like absolutley nothing can translate how arriving and mak9ng the journey and arriving becomes a picture unique in and of itself that you have now become apart of forever and makes the whole entire expirience of living and seeing being somewhere inspiring, so let's just say this movie reminded me of all that joy and wonder in life. So ya. Enjoy or click on more brain junk food that you'll probably waste 99% more of all your free time waisting away at instead, there plenty of other jun and fart joke shows and fairy tale b.s. city lovey cheaty greedy gross family stories a-plenty to choose from. Please remember we are just part of this earth and are not as important as the earth itself because it gave and is the only thing that will continue to give us live forever before we were here, and billions of years(if were damn lucky) after we were alive. So live it up! And Live every moment right! CLIMATE JUSTICE!!!!!!!!

Are we all sharing an hallucinatory experience where diversities trap us in different spaces and times, like a beautiful and threatening merrygoround of dreams and nightmares that only Mother Nature can conjure up?...a speck in the universe yet full of endless miracles....this is a message in the bottle from 1992,harmony and a gaping mouth, human folly and shedding tears...with utterly amazing visuals, better than Samsara,a masterpiece,10/10.

This one and Samsara are very similar, except that here you explore the original idea. A more simple composition that later gave origin to Samsara, with a more complex structure.

I watched Samsara and now THIS, although Samsara is really good, it lacks the great emotion that comes with BARAKA

Beautiful visuals and the music blends in very nicely, but not as good as Reggio's films. Tackles too many different things, instead of trying to work around a central idea and pass a unified message. Still, it's an enjoyable experience.
