I read Ian Mcewan's book Atonement, or attempted to read it and learned my lesson. Ended up watching the movie after reading half the book. Now Im glad that I watched this movie and not read the book because this movie was okay at best. This movie is based on one of his books but it is nowhere near as good as Atonement. Watch if you are a fan of the author or Daniel Craig.

loved the movie! daniel and rhys had chemistry. the actress that played opposite daniel,i don't know if she suit the role. her character was on the outside of what was going on anyway. the main focus was the guys...mmmm xP

I felt that any strong sense of emotion was lacking, especially within the first few minutes.

I don't really understand why this movie has gotten such horrible reviews! I liked the story and I liked the performances. I don't think there was much of an 'arty' feel to the story either- it was just more complex than your average drama, probably because of the complex characters. The only things I didn't like about the movie are the first critical scene that triggered the rest of the events in the story, and the stalker- I did feel that this character was portrayed too one dimensionally. This movie stayed with me for a couple of days after I watched it. 3.5/5 stars

To be honest I couldn't generate any interest about the characters of this improbable modern relation demise, which I found visually hollow and pretentiously arty with no exception...very shallow portrait of an intelligentsia better left in the subjective comfort of a novel's page....

Daniel Craig did not suit this role at all, poor performance, but all the other actors were great, especially Rhys Ifans. Story line was a bit predictable. 6/10

Based on the much better novel(that first chapter!)this is still a decent movie in its own right... Perhaps Daniel Craig isn't really suited to the role but Samantha Morton gives another excellent performance.
