Strange Culture: The surreal nightmare of internationally-acclaimed artist and professor Steve Kurtz began when his wife, Hope, died in her sleep of heart failure. Medics arrived, became suspicious of Kurtz's art, and called the FBI. Within hours the artist was detained as a suspected "bioterrorist", as dozens of agents in Hazmat suits sifted through his work and impounded his computers, manuscripts, books, cat, and even his wife's body. Today Kurtz and his long-time collaborator Dr. Robert Ferrell, former Chair of the Genetics Department at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, await a trial date.

This is probably one of the most stupidest cases that went to trial in the US; I'd like to know the DA that pushed this case through, and hope he/she has been fired. Surely they're taught critical thinking in their Universities, in the US, but this documentary would refute this statement. Check this site out for an update http://www.caedefensefund.org/ To be perfectly honest, the longer I live, the more I think governments are automatons, throwing money at causes that hold the very people they should be serving accountable for non-crimes. I would like to see a documentary about this whole case, after Dr Steven Kurtz was acquited of all charges, to belittle the 'justice' system as it stands in the US. Just an fantastic chilling story that makes you wonder not only about the common over-reaction of a post 9/11 world but the steps a government is willing to take to silence those it deems even a minor threat.Which now days could be anyone actually. If what might be civil litigation can be usurped by the government and swept into its field of criminal cases, as this film so vividly demonstrates, it will vastly expand the powers of a government's reach. When fear dominates those who might think to stand up against those powers, then more liberties are further curtailed and lost. This is one film that everyone who values freedom should watch to learn the lessons it holds. Also, its ending is quite unusual. And just wait until you find out what happened to that poor cat! There is updated information on this story on the Internet.5/5
