Outstanding performance by Kerry Fox! Very dramatic film, very emotional. Probably one of my new favorite movies. I found it highly interesting, and beautifully made. This is a must see. A modern classic! 5/5.

If you are dreaming of being a writer or are a writer you will relate to this autobiography but you need not be into writing to get a kick out of this coming of age story. Charles Dickens would have liked this.Jane Campion is a superb director.

I guess I am alone when I say I didn't care for this movie at all. It was more like a visual analog of a diary than an entertaining work of visual cinematography. I found it long and had scenes that I found completely unnecessary to the storyline.
