The FIRST One SUCKED! This one was FAR Better than the first one. It wasn't just some idiots with a budget of a couple of hundreds of dollars running through the woods shaking the camera. This one actually had something to it. If you play it backwards (for those who own it) There are things that you missed or show up only when played backwards. Kinda cool. SCREW the First one and watch this one.

Friends, Moviegoers, Primewireans. I have come to bury Blair Witch 2, not praise it. This remains one of the most controversial, oft-debated horror genre sequels among the true horror cinema lovers out there. Your film lover generally falls into one of two extreme camps: Love it or hate it. And for the most obvious reason. The movie is nothing like Blair Witch Project. Guess to what camp I belong? The fact that Book of Shadows is nothing like Blair Witch Project is the very reason it succeeds. Remember, when Blair Witch came out, its acclaim was derived from the then-original storytelling medium of found footage (which was actually established by the 1980 horror film Cannibal Holocaust, but I digress...). I argued then and still today that Blair Witch Project is not actually scary. What it did do though is launch a generation of films and entertainment that thrive upon being viral. Few probably remember—and even many more of my readers may not have even been born yet—but when word of Blair Witch hit the world wide web 1.5 back in the late 90's, the speculation was whether it was real. This was well before IMDB or blogs or innumerable film sites that would have vetted BWP well before that rumor started. And when BWP hit the festival circuit initially, there was a group who believed they were truly watching footage found from documentary filmmakers who were never seen again. It was those initial screenings where words like “scariest film of all time” and “most frightening thing ever filmed” came about (BWP may also be credited for the start of movie review hyperbole, but that's an argument for another day). What the producers of BWP did was establish a way to get low budget movies tremendous buzz early on that will carry over to audiences buying tickets. And they were uber-successful at it. I give them credit for that. But BWP is in no way scary. And it's curse, if there is one, is to damn us with the endless stream of found footage flicks that have infested the modern horror genre like a damn STD. What I love about BWP2 was the producers took a director best known for documentaries and made a God-honest frightening film using traditional cinematography. When the sequel came out, many fans were pissed at it for that very reason and overlooked the fact as to what a layered gem BWP2 really is. Not only is it off-putting, disquieting and very creepy (see if that backward dancing ghost doesn't haunt your dreams after watching it), but Joe Berlinger makes a solid point that perhaps was way ahead of its time. What's truth in an age of the Internet and viral videos? This movie essentially plays to the unreliable narrator: We view the movie through the eyes of the characters who may not be telling the truth. Or at least are unaware of what their role in that truth is until we see the footage from the camera. I found it to be a brilliant contrivance. The fact that it was poo-poo'd for so long has little to do with the quality of the script and everything to do with that it wasn't found footage. But like all things classic, time is this film's best friend. And as time has marched on, BWP2 has found more and more a fan base who, like me, not only think it was the right direction to take for a BWP sequel, but even surpassed its predecessor. So, in the end, Friends, moviegoers and Primewireans, I have not only defended but praised Book of Shadows. Forgive me.

Ok 2 watch once coz it was fun. Bt it wasn't scary at all, doesn't hold a candle 2 the 1st movie,it was cheesy n none of the actors could act worth a cent. Where did they find these actors?

Disjointed, rambling, no coherence at all. 1/10, only out of pity for the cast who try their best to act scared. In a word "mundane". Not a good adjective for a horror movie.

This was not nearly as good as the first one. This had less suspense and more "WTF" moments. Like, that pregnant woman drank all night and then lost her baby, and everyone couldn't figure out why. Really?! Maybe alcohol had to do with it. This was just campy. Could have been done way better.

You can watch it on the "megavideo.com" you do have to make an account on that website though, but trust me, that movie wasn't worth taking the time to make the account. Stick to the first one, it's much more real.

A lot of people complain about it, but I liked it. It wasn't so much scary as it was creepy and it was definitely better than the first one.

This wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. It wasn't even close to being as creepy as the first film; but it was still a rather good movie. It had a good story, I just wish they would have told it a tiny bit differently. The acting was off at some spots, but overall I was glad I took the time to watch it. 6/10.

Even with the snotty crying girl with her nose pressed into a video cam lense through much of the first half of the first film, I can honestly say that one was better. It was better only because of the novelty and the story line. As for this 2nd follow-up or sequel I laughed, and I thought horror films are supposed to scare you at least a little. This one is not scary, so if you are looking for those creep up your spine scares, Book of Shadows is not the one baby!

This was actually good, surprisingly. Had some creepy parts that made it very interesting. It didn't quite follow in the footsteps of the first one, the acting was a teeny bit sucky, but the feel of the movie was good. 8/10
