Come on dude "went to die for no reason"...Really?? Ofcourse there is a reason! Wars have always been conducted to seize/defend lands for the higher classes and seize/defend some some sort of wealth or goods again for the elites. Elites see, elites desire, poor and middle class people go and die.

Such a shame men were sent to kill each other for no reason. I wish the commanders could be brought to justice for the genocide they committed.

A TERRIFIC film. A movie piece that evokes a sense of shared humanity and will make anyone watching it wonder why the F*** are they at war? The BEST holiday film I've seen, one that goes beyond Santa Claus and even beyond Christianity to the real spirit of the season.

An excellent film. Breathtaking story, and great performances. It was emotional and touching. Kept me deeply engaged as well. It will surely be a Christmas classic in the years to come. I loved it. 4/5.

Enjoyed this film.Explored the growing futility and the gritty reality of that first year of the war.

Excellent movie, its a great representation of the Christmas truce of 1914, good cast and made all the more authentic by the mix of languages(English subtitles on stagevu). The scale of the truce however isn't well represented as there were initially 100,000 British (not just Scottish but also English and Welsh)and German soldiers involved that stretched along the length of the Western Front. Still good though! ****

Based on true accounts about the World War I's Christmas truce participated by French, Scottish, and German soldiers, anyone will appreciate this Cannes-winning war drama that's reminiscent of the time when everyone united in the name of peace.

I'm not getting into the politics about this film. This was simply a beautiful movie about something that happened during WWII.Certainly some license was taken with it,but if you want a documentary,..go find one.Dont diss this because it isnt an exact copy of what happened.Just enjoy it for that it IS based on truth, and is a great film to watch.
