Will Smith wanted to buy the right to remake a US version. It finaly didn't happen and i find it ok. Not cause i'm french but cause i think it is interesting watching films from other cultures. Not everything needs to look like what's familiar.

Funny movie, sometimes a bit boring but still made me laugh a few times. I think it's even more funny when your language is French. But the different accents were clear to hear. I give this movie a 7/10.

To all the french people that are under the false impression that Anglo's and all other non-french won't understand this as well as you, you are wrong. The premise of this nice little movie is very simple, northern french are stereotyped by the rest of the country and a mans time spent with them dispells that. I would compare this to my life as a western Canadian who stereotypes all Quebec french as rude, arrogant, ingrates. There are also much more serious language barriers between us than the people in the movie. I am fairly certain, however, that like in the movie, the stereotype does not apply to the whole populace of the province. The subtitles writer went out of his/her way to explain some of the subtleties of the dialect differences as well which will help to understand and I applaud the effort. I give it a 4/5 and recommend another Dany Boon movie called Micmacs if you enjoy french comedy as I do.

I loved this movie! Like everyone else said, even if you don't know French, you'll still like it.
