Great nearly accurate movie. First I apologize to Canada for this. BUT it's a d*mn shame Canada's prime minister was such a no balls pussy. Eisenhower sold you guys a bill of goods. True, there issues with the program's financials - it was over budget - but heck all these things go over budget. Under Liberal Prime Minister and forward thinking Louis St. Laurent who was willing to invest in Canada, Canada had year 2000 design and technology figured out in the early 50s. By the mid to late 50s Canada had planned and designed twin engines and delta wings capable of reaching Mach 2 cruising altitude of 50K feet in under 5 minutes - and Mach 3 in bursts - yep Mach 3. In 58 when the Russians launched the first satellite, the Arrow would have put Canada LIGHT YEARS ahead of the US air defense program. Canada may have led the world in air power for decades with this plane - maybe forever with your team's continued improvements and developments - just a damned shame, too. The Avro technology was SHOCKINGLY ahead of its time - a lot of the design and components equal to what the US used in the early 2000s for our F-35 program - FIFTY years after the Arrow and its highly advanced light weight super thrust Iroquois engine (never even made it into the plane) were scrapped. In one fell swoop when you put Progressive Conservative Diefenbaker in office, Canada told the world we have the brains but not the balls to rule the world's air technology - no offense Canadians - it was that pussy Diefenbaker, your Army and Navy chiefs of staff who were whining that money was being diverted from THEIR programs - and Diefenbaker wouldn't stand up to them. Eisenhower convinced Diefenbaker that not only was Russia's development of fighters capable of carrying a nuclear payload but they had advanced missile development capable of reaching North America in minutes over Canada's polar airspace carrying nuclear warheads and the USA talked General George Pearkes Minister of National Defence and Diefenbaker out of the Avro program which would have carried guided missiles, air-to-air missiles, or four 1,000 lb bombs, and alternatively into buying 64 American McDonnell Voodoo interceptors barely capable of Mach 1 and some faulty Bomarc B missiles (which Canada had jointly tested) for the SAME price Canada could have produced 130 Mach 3 Arrow fighters.

Well, it was good to know, confirming how politicians and their egos could destroy greatness and progress. Very proud of Canada, and very sad of how this turned to be. Gratitude to the filmmaker for bringing this story to our attention, and its memory to live.
