Poor little rich girl falls off the edge of the planet into the arms of a mofo-user of the first water - andy warhol. She spent her limited youthful beauty in the Factory and was used and used and abused until she was a whining empty gas-filled drug addict without any shred of character left in her to bring her through the wars to adulthood. Good docu-drama and the commencement of a long-awaited indictment of the Warhol Chimera. 3/5

Good movie, pretty sad on several levels. We all know the downfall of Edie and the movie might not be introducing anything new to her story. But it's not a documentary, is it? It's sad that some call that woman 'a socialite'. She was an artist first and foremost who because of her addiction and incredible abuse she suffered didn't pursue her career. She was not Paris Hilton of her era. She was smart and talented. Sienna's so good in this film. It's sad that the movie industry, instead of focusing on Sienna's talent, uses her as a sexy accessory in most projects she is in. Factory Girl also portrays Warhol pretty well. Worth watching.

Is it just an hour and forty minutes of Edie going to fabulous parties, meeting socialites and fame leeches and slowly declining into a total spiral of adictions and decadence? Very much so. That being said, the film's pitfall is that it offers nothing new about Edie. It is nothing but the basic facts of her life that at this point, most people know about. It is based on speculation and does not go any further into her life. In fact, the film highlights its own final-long-lasting-never-fully-recover-blackout that it tells the story of a period in her life that has lost interest for people because they have already heard or read about it. But the most peculiar thing in FG was the casting and characterization of Hayden Christensen's "Musician", an amalgamation of boyfriends that Sedgwick has through her life, but implicitly, and quite obviously, that a "widely known folk/blue artist" is the one being referred here. The presentation styles adopted in this movie by George Hickenlooper were pretty pop-mixed, constantly shifting visual techniques from documentary styled interviews, to the incorporation of remade avant garde movies, from colour to black and white. While the focus is supposed to be on Edie Sedgwick given the title, in reality, Andy Warhol gets the spotlight, probably because of writing difficulties. Anyway, conceptualized it as a love story between a gay man and a straight woman explains much of what we see and don't see in the film.

Great role for Sienna but I found Pierce really irresistible and convincing as Warhol.....good reconstruction of the factory scene.

I'ma go out on a limb and say that people love the idea of this movie and what it represents... I have to roll with Lou Reed on this one. This is a pretty pointless film.

Such a sad but great movie. The poor girl just wanted to love and be loved. And the way her friends, especially Chuck and Andy mistreated her, was just terrible. They grew jealous and then broke and abandoned her. I always really enjoy this every time I watch it. And every time I just want to reach into the screen and give her a hug...

It is a very sad movie. Portrays Andy W. as an unemotional, selfish, self centered asshole and even though I adore those times, Andy Warhol, Dylan, Lou Reed era she was just a sad girl who needed love she craved from a dad who was worse than Andy W. I looked it up online and some events are factual and some are not, according to some things I read but regardless she was just beautiful with a Marilyn Monroe sadness to her.

I gave up on this after one hour. It was just plain terrible, and it did not appear it was going to get any better. I can see now why it was hated over at Rotten Tomatoes. I am not a fan of Rotten Tomatoes, but they were right about this one.

Couldn't really get into it , which is saying alot because i love stories surrounding Andy Warhol.. Guy pierce is one of my all time favorite actors so i wade through it to see him, but it was just too slow for me.. If you like Andy Warhol , i'd recommend a couple of stellar movies .. I Shot Andy Warhol, and Basquiat where david bowie actually plays him ..

excellent movie, sad story tho..most of her family was plagued with mental health problems and most of her family seemed to die young.I don't know who I disliked more her dad or andy Warhol..the dad was mentally disturbed obviously..and it seemed like andy was just a heartless leech!

good film really an odd way to look at the perception of a life through a movie but it had a conceptual meaningful grasp on what the cost are of wanting fame and fortune ... 9/10
