"I'm British, I know how to queue" made my day. Good comedy, Monty Python's style, and Martin Freeman great as usual.

i notice some people have a problem with the film and say the books are better, but there is no definitive version. but they all follow the same plot, arthur dents planet gets destroyed by vogons for a bypass. and then it follows arthurs adventures after this catastrophe. it started as a 12 ep radio series, then books 'a trilogy in five parts', then a tv show, then a movie. stage show, video game, comic, LP, audiobook, live radioshow, theres so many different formats of it, that the creator said every version contradicts each other. and he would know, he did the lot. thats right. the lot. so is no definitive version, they are all different on purpose. wikipedia has a lot of info on it. the best way to get the story would be to try every version/format. but whichever way you digest the story. its gonna be good, and its gonna be hitchikers, but most of all DONT PANIC

For most who actually read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy this movie will be a disappointment. Ok, sure enough as with any long book you have to leave a lot out. I understand this, but that isn't the only problem with this film. I can't go into any detail, but it has a number of points which run flat contrary to what was in the book. To any newcomers, go and read the book, maybe get a recording of the old radio shows. Don't spoil the experience by starting here.

I think the cast did a gr8 job on this film. As others stated it is a true shame that Douglas Adams passed before he could see the movie. The special effects were wonderful, and I loved the quirkiness the actors/actresses gave to their characters. Enjoy! =] 5/5

Oh my gosh! It's Bilbo Baggins! Martin Freeman is awesome! I seldom enjoy the Monte Python kind of comedy, but this one sneaked up and bagged me! 4/5 from here.

Loved the movie, version 1, is the best link. Captured the books stupidity and funniness all in one. I wish there was a sequal :(

This is a movie in which i seen shortly after it came out on DVD. I really enjoyed it and I watch it all the time!! My wife thinks it is the dumbest movie of all time. I like the story, Mos Def is hardly never in crappy movies and Sam Rockwell as always cracks me up!! I wouldnt give it a 10, but It is definetely worth the almost 2hrs to watch it. A very funny movie that really makes you wonder about life and the reasons were here!! "Nice Jammies"...

the practical effects in this are amazing, because of todays technology a lot of studios think computers are the way to go all the time, but practical effects are probably more realistic than ever now, and its great to see a film using them. just like the new star wars films have started using them to good effect. it just makes some things look more tangible/ believable. i love this film, for a book written in 1952, it was waaaay ahead of its time (in the book he mentions digital watches, i didnt think they had those till the 60s or something?) in fact, ive never read them, so im determined to read all five after this at some point. there is also i text parser game of guide to the galaxy, which aparently is the best game of its type ever made. if you would like a link to it (as ive played it, its great) just PM me and ill share it with you as its free. anyhoo. great film. would love to own a real life version of the guide in this movie with frys voice, and of course a depressed robot. R.I.P Alan Rickman

Stephen Fry should narrate everything ever written, in fact he should narrate the world, *in fact* he should narrate my entire *life*.

Fucking awful! And if I am using dirty words, you'd best bet that I mean it. Coming from someone who loved the books, this movie is dreadfully miscast: (Sam Rockwell as zaphod? Zooey Deschanel as Trillian? WTF?) I couldn't make it past 30 minutes with this piece of shit. READ THE BOOK(S)!
