Life on earth was much simpler and much better in the 80's without Facebook and YouTube.

The best of the film series featuring the original crew because it works on so many levels: embracing Roddenberry's original notion of wrapping topical notions in the cloak of sci-fi while playing the entire film as a comedy: satirical, silly & slapstick. It makes the "threat" to be resolved a MacGuffin to allow the hilarity

This is probably my favorite of the series, don't know why lol..i guess i always enjoy movies or TV shows where the future interacts with the past and i love the looks on the faces of the people seeing what the future could be like. Anyways, great movie, will come back to it again in a couple years when rewatching the entire series which i do from time to time. A solid 8/10 from me

The budget for Star Trek 4 was double that of the second movie and 1/3 more than for the third movie so I personally don't think that the scenes filmed on Earth were done for budget reasons(although it may seem logical). It's a very entertaining movie despite the fact that it doesn't contain fight scenes;the sense of humor is great too. 4/5

I agree with JOKERS WILD conclusion, a bit silly and a bit long. I really expected to love this one, mostly because of the whales and the message, but it just didn't hit the right tones for me. However, I certainly didn't hate it either, I mean it's still a Star Trek movie and it is entertaining. Along with being silly, there are some truly funny moments that make it worth watching.

A bit long and a bit silly but certainly entertaining and an interesting spin on the genre. Watch if you're into Star Trek?

I found that this was on the lines of the first movie, one of the worst ones in the movie series, but it was still very good, a lot better than I remembered it, yes yes yes, there really isn't any action at all almost. However it was more drama, comedy type style which was still very good. All in all I give this a 4/5

Yeah, this not the best of them, but I still love it. Those of us who grew up watching Trek find it hard to NOT like any of the movies or episodes at least a little. The first movie is the one I like least, but I'll still watch it once in a while. This one is the most light of all of them. There is more humor than action, and it doesn't have that "final battle" Where the Enterprise and crew take out the enemy by the seat of their pants. It does still have some tension leading up to the end, even if it's not all explosions and fight scenes. It is still a good movie and very watchable, especially if you are in the mood for something light. 4/5 overall from me...

Too much time spent on the land, probably the poorest out of the sequels.
