The Jungle Book: Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s "Mowgli" story, The Jungle Book follows the ups and downs of the man-cub Mowgli as he makes his way back to the human village with wise panther Bagheera to escape ruthless tiger Shere Khan. Along the way, he meets unforgettable friends and foes including mad King Louie of the Apes, the hypnotic snake Kaa and the loveable, happy-go-lucky bear Baloo, who teaches Mowgli “The Bare Necessities” of life and the true meaning of friendship.

This was my first movie i ever watched and i still love it now. The songs are really good, the animation is quite nice, and it's just a fun Disney movie. 9/10

I cannot believe I watched this in the 1980s and had no idea, to this day, that it was made in the 1960s. And that is with having seen 1960s movies, TV show productions throughout the 80s. Clearly this animation was beyond its time, or else there had been little progress in animation over those 2-3 decades. Then again, 'The Jungle Book' is a forever in classic storytelling for children. It's fundamental concepts, ideas, morals/ethics are pertinent in every age, they are 'transcendent', forever, perpetually relevent. But I remain impressed by the animation and colour standards tbh. I believe this 1960s creation should be a movie for all children to see no matter how many 're-makes' are made. For example, the 2016 re-make is very cynical and sarcastic - a bit too 'smart ass' for young children and more targetted towards adult-inclusive family viewing. I am not saying it is unsuitable, certainly not. But the original is more in-tune with simplicity and kind-mindedness (or 'pure mindedness'?) of young children. Imho, the oldie classics are still of value to children, especially before they are spoiled by modern HD and CGI in animation viewing. So, if you have young toddlers currently, *this* classic animation is still well worth the watch for the whole family *before* the 2016 remake (you can save that for a x-mas re-watch when they are 5/6/7 yrs old).

Such a gorgeous movie - timeless story about life and the meaning of friendship! The songs are amazing and I still know them off by heart 20 years later! Again, my children love all the older Disney movies - just bring back such wonderful memories for me!

Probably one of Disney's best animated features. Also one of the last he supervised himself. The animation is astonishing and star some striking characters. The musical parts will really makes you want to dance and they are essential to the picture's unity . This movie never becomes flat and it's a delight to watch every minutes of it.
