How Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Asa Butterfield (Hugo), were not nominated for Oscars is beyond me. Hands down the best film of the year. Thank you Martin Scorsese. Everything about this film is amazing from beginning to end, the acting, the script, the cinematography, the music, set design, visual effects, the list is endless, its the perfect film. 10/10 *and thanks for the freedom of speech. :)

Well, I have to say, I've just checked about 25 versions, and every freaking version has the same spot around 58 minutes in where the moron filming the thing decides he has to go to the bathroom or whatever and takes his camera away from the screen. Why the hell would you even upload something like that? It's like, seriously dude, if you aren't man enough to handle an entire movie, don't waste people's time. I hope they ban the guy who uploaded this version (Better yet, get the guy for piracy and throw him in jail so he doesn't attempt an awful cam-version of something else in the future.)

looks so good after 15 minutes that I had to stop watching, saving it for the cinemas/ dvd quality link.

I think this movie got this story from the PC game Siberia. I played it and there are a lot of connection in what happened in the movie. The robot looks alike the game's one. And other characters appear in the game too. Nice movie. I loved it. For the scenery and the storyline. I hope they will go on with another one telling what happen next... in the game they start from a late time when Hugo is old and the protagonist got to find him and solve misteries around the robots.

I liked it, but it does seem like an adult movie disguised as a kids movie. I don't think it's for everyone because the subject material may be too mature for kids while adults will see it as a kids movie and pass. Martin Scorcese is a wonderful director and you can see the work put into this. It's a shame it's not going to get the recognition it deserves, but you can understand that dimming his logic down to that of a child is hard. Definitely worth watching if you're into fantasy family films.

This movie is like watching art. But I felt it lacking in other aspects. It failed to grab my 100% attention. However it's a great family movie with a touch of mystery.

A feast for the eye and a travel through the history of film, but sometimes the story just didn't.. catch me as much as it maybe could have. The different sceneries and costumes were so esteticaly beautiful. My eyes were amazed.

omg! This was such an amazing lil film. I laughed, I cried, it was awesome! I give it 10/10 for YA cinema! And who cares what it looked like, or what people postulate it should or shouldn't have been. Just enjoy the movie, because sometimes life sucks, and if you can overcome that suckiness, then you've made it. Enjoy it for what it is, a wonderful movie, and get over the semantics, and bs critics.

A thoroughly enjoyable film for all! Started slow but got better as it went on. A great cast & good performances from the two main child stars. 9/10

Oh, God... Maybe some people (especially the children) would enjoy this movie, but it was WAY too uneventful and slow for me. I kept hoping something more interesting would come up. Oh well. At least it had a happy ending with a "message." And I have to admit that it was well made (and pretty good acting), just not for me. Also, am I the only one who keeps expecting the robot to suddenly move or blink? heh.

Half way through I was still waiting for the movie to 'start', I guess I expected more fantasy and adventure from this film. 3/5
