The Universe: From the planets to the stars and out to the edge of the unknown, history and science collide in this epic exploration of the Universe and its mysteries. It's a very old universe. Yet just 50 years since man first ventured into outer space, the heavens are yielding their greatest secrets. Robotic rovers give us eyes on the red rock of Mars--NASA probes slam into comets at hyper speed--deep-space telescopes capture violent images of the birth of stars and their collapse into black holes. All have significantly changed the way we see ourselves. We wonder, is there anywhere else out there that that can support life? Using cutting-edge computer graphics, this series brings the universe down to earth to show what life would be like on other planets, and to imagine what kind of life forms might evolve in alien atmospheres. Episodes examine how discoveries were made and the scientists and explorers who dared to venture into the uncharted territory of the universe.

One of the best documentaries on the cosmos since Carl Sagan. Now that's saying something. 10/10 The universe is not only beautiful and amazing, it continues to surprise us everywhere we look. For example, they just recently found an exoplanet that has rain in the form of rocks. It's so close to it's sun that the rock vaporizes and coalesces again and falls back to the planets surface as pebbles. It literally rains rocks... how crazy is that? It was also believed to be the core of a gas giant that the sun had evaporated away. Kinda like looking at whats underneath the surface of Jupiter. Sorry I'm rambaling. I love this subject.

This whole series is like a combo of every discovery channel mini series about the universe, this is the only show you need to watch to be up to date with pretty much everything in the cosmos what I dont like is the fact that they repeat things 2 or 3 times, things that were told years ago elsewhere, you'd think by 2007 they would have made some kinda breakthroughs.

The newest series have become rather ridiculous with its comparisons to things in life. The scientist themselves are struggling not to laugh when comparing gravity to a man juggling with a bowling ball or a solar system disc with cotton candy. They shouldn't dumb it down so much for stupid people.

Beautiful. Usually nothing scares me. No wars or deaths or gore or paranormal stuff. The only thing that scares me is the fact that the universe is so immense and that we are smaller than a sand grain on a never ending beach...

This show is my life and without it i would feel incomplete in every way, It explains the truth beyond anything man can create directly, it's like window to another type of beginning and comprehension of what else is considered real outside this world.

Best documentary series I've ever seen, though somewhat repetitive in some subjects, it's still very well done.
