The best and the scariest Japanese horror movie of all time.

I surprisingly liked the new American version better. It was scarrier, and a lot more entertaining. I'm usually not fond of people remaking films, especially when they don't need it, but in this case I was definitely okay with it. I'm actually a huge foreign film fan, which is why i'm so shocked that I didn't enjoy this. It's still well worth seeing though.

this and ringu 2 are the only films that have scared me since i was a kid. better than the american remakes in everyway. in fact they should not have been allowed to remake these as they truely ruined them. 9 / 10

Ringu has the better story while the american remake has better cinematography and atmosphere. If only the two could be combined.

I found the start of the fim very annoying. The acting wasnt' great, but overall, the idea of a killer tape was pretty cool 3/5. Strangely, the apparent remake, The Ring was way better for me in terms of acting.

Seen the American version when I was younger so I guess it's time to watch the original.

I really like to watch The Ring now and then, and until now I hadn't had the chance to watch the original Japanese version. I have to admit that at times I had goosebumps... Truly scary, due mostly to the subdued performance of the main character. I, on the other hand, found the guy pretty bloody annoying.

What a f u ending lol. The only issue for me was the lighting, it was to dark.

I didn't find this to be very scary and I've never seen the American remake. Though I did enjoy this I have to admit I was a bit let down.

I preferred this version of The Ring then the American one. Seeing as most ppl have seen the American version we know what is going to happen, hence we are not really scared, yet this movie managed to keep my attention and the American remake was not exactly scene per scene as the original. I liked this movie and recommend it to any horror fan. 8/10 stars.

This movie is fantastic! I was a big fan of The Ring, and even though there were no major "jump" scenes in it, it felt more realistic and the story line was awesome. 10/10.
