It has a remarkably poetic quality, a visual fluidity and beauty that transforms even the most ordinary events into something slightly tinged by a dream-like quality. Marcello Mastroianni offers a his greatest performance here, a delicate mixture of desperation and ennui, and he is exceptionally well supported by a cast that includes Claudia Cardinale, Anouk Aimee, and a host of other notables.

Absolutely gorgeous on every level - it's like watching a dream unfold. I had tears in my eyes near the end. Such a powerful message told in such a truthful way. Federico Fellini at his best. 5/5

One of the coolest opening to a film that I've ever seen. A nice oldie.

Must-watch-at-least-two-times kind of movie. I've mostly enjoyed how Fellini played with shadows and the manner in which he had emphasized emotions and his/hers/character's state of mind

This film was brilliant! One of the best films I have ever seen! Definately the best Italian movie I have seen. I enjoyed this much more than La Dolce Vita. Federico Fellini is one of my new favorite directors. I think he is a genius. This was so beautifully done and had amazing performances. Great score as well. Masterpiece. 5/5.

futuristic nostalgia. The entire film is one big fat indulgence of the director's ego. He is passive aggressive towards himself, I think he might be bipolar. Suffice to say: don't care for it/ don't get it. If I got it, this comment would be more harsh and dismissive.
