Dwa ksiezyce: The film is based on a story written by Maria Kuncewicz in 1930, which was inspired by her impressions during her first visit to the town of Kazimierz by the Vistula River. The contrasting portrait of society in a summer resort town. Side by side the townspeople and the summer visitors; the intelligentsia, artists, local residents of all classes, and the poor who have to watch over every bit of money and who respect every kind of work which is available. Evening. Moszek Ruchlingier, the porter, returns fearfully to his nagging wife Sura; drunken Ludwis comes home from the tannery. The seamstress Walentyna relaxes on her veranda and sniffs the unpleasant odor coming from Mrs. Malwina's garden next door. Master Sowa argues with the workmen repairing the roof. Blind Michael tells people to go to sleep. Franciszek, the mason, lies next to his wife. Peace descends over the little town, but then its disturbed by the summer residents(...) The moon rises their moon. This is a part of the first of seventeen episodes on which the film is constructed. Each of them based round different characters, each time shedding more light on this microcosm.
