This is such a beautiful film, attractive actors, regal costumes, lavish settings.... seductive, funny... good combo of everything... The music, cinematography and choreography are superb.

Had this little beauty stocked away for a special evening's viewing. What a spectacular little gem. A young Colin and ever so handsome. Even in this early careet performance the writing was on the wall for his talents. Not only is he delightful so is the entire cast. Not to mention the visual treats that keep on coming, especially the out of doors in the forest. If you enjoy period films this one delivers on all accounts.

I love it's predecessor, "Dangerous Liaisons," especially with Pfeiffer in the lead, and I love Malkovich, but Colin Firth makes this one the movie to go back to for me, which I do on occasion. A must see: 9/10.

I felt there was something missing in plot...it seems to me that some scenes have been cut from the movie! Compare this to "Dangerous Liaisons" and you'll see what I mean.

Valmont is not as good as its 1988 predecessor Dangerous Liaisons, although it does have Colin Firth for eye candy! A lot more light-hearted than Dangerous Liaisons but it lacked depth. Really enjoyed watching Annette Benning though, she did not disappoint. Worth a watch, but watch both films!

I agree with the comments that this film was like a dramatic run-on sentence and yet it still felt like there were major scenes cut from the movie. Dangerous Liasons (this film's predecessor, based off of the same story) was a far superior film, in the end...masterful and thoughtfully orchestrated, rather than slapped together like an improvised bedtime story (like Valmont), with an ending that scrambled to bring some resolution just so the writer could move onto to the next screenplay.

To me, this movie was just OK. It was entertaining, but it honestly felt like one big dramatic run-on sentence..6/10
