Amazing movie. Acting, writing, editing, directing and, of course, Ray Charles singing the title song.

what a movie, no wonder it adapted to a tv show. I swear ever time I saw Steiger I was seeing Carroll O'Connor. recommended, absolutely yes. 10/10

My first time watching this...I knew about the They call me Mr. Tibbs line before, but never knew what movie it came from. This is awesome! Kept my attention from the start and since I have ADHD, that is quite an accomplishment!

This film caused me to laugh, frown, and question myself. It is wild to what blood thirst and immaturity can do to a group of towns people. My own resistance towards seeing due process through to the finish with dignity, civility & integrity got dealt with too. Phenomenal time spent.

Loved it! Might be a bit dated for some viewers but you can't deny the performances. Sidney Poitier was great (so much screen presence) but for me I just loved Rod Steiger as the backwater small town sheriff (I didn't realise the role won him an oscar). 5/5 if you enjoyed this checkout 'Mississippi burning'

One of the best all time movies ever made! There is absolutely nothing wrong on any level. Poitier and Steiger are exceptional. The supporting cast could not have been better if they had chosen real White racists from any deep South state. Especially notable are Quentin Dean and James Patterson as the Purdys. 20/10

Emotionally evocative and way ahead of its time. Powerful scenes of outrageous racism. Sidney Poitier is a force to be reckoned with. He is certainly one of the greats. Not only a classic film, but an essential film.

I have no doubt in my mind that this movie is one of the all time greats and i have a valid reason and logic to back my statement. another thing is i also believe there is a blend of inspiration or idea taken from the life of MOHAMMAD ALI as this movie was released in 1969, 68 approximately when ALI was bullied or called big headed, intelligent
