What can I say about this film that hasn't already been said? An absolute masterpiece through and through. Loved the scene on the train platform when Hackman was following the Frenchman....Classic!

A true masterpiece. Gene Hackman's performance was one of the great cinematic moments that was undeniably a multi-oscar performance. Indeed this movie revolutionized how crime and gangster films were to be made. The movie still outdoes the majority of thrillers, crime stories, and gangster movies of today in every respect because of its directional strength, plot development, its authenticity, and the list goes and on. I saw F.C. several years on tv and was blown away at how great it was after all of these years. Again, a beautiful masterpiece that ushered a new grit to cinema. 8.7/10

Handheld cinematography and pre-blockbuster grit make The French Connection relevant all over again.

Great film! Gene Hackman is a very good actor! Loved the plot and thought it was very interesting! Not too slow, and not too fast of a pace, really enjoyed this. It's a must see! Definately deserved it's Oscar for best picture! 5/5.

this is the legend. the one that has inspired every other crime movie since. there isnt a chase scene in a movie that hasn't 'borrowed' some elements from this movie. even computer games like GTA have missions that directly reflect that classic persuit through new york. what a movie. its brilliant in every way. watch this and see what a true classic looks like. 5/5.

By today's standards, this movie is slow and sluggish but the unorthodox ending and the chemistry between Hackman and Scheider makes this an appreciative 1 time watch. The cinematography is one that will catch your eye in some shots of the movie. As for the plot, don't expect much.
