One of the finest westerns ever made. All the leads are on top form. Special mention too Lee Marvin for standing his own with such heavy hitters. John Wayne steals the show though in probably his best performance. Who said he couldn't act?! Shame on them...

A great film. Ford combines drama, action, and humour to make an excellent western. John Wayne was oustanding and Stewart was exceptional. A superb western classic, and one of my personal favorites of the genre. 5/5.

One of the greatest John Ford Westerns. Examines in microcosm both the evolution of the Old West into the Modern West and the conflict between forthrightness and expedient acceptance of perceptions. The all around great performances lend solid support to this parable of a maturing America.

A movie that played to the audience strengths of knowing several of its famous lead actors. Jimmy, John, and a slew of others play their respective reoccurring famous parts and play up the "for the small man" political card. Never once mentioning taxes in the process. Enjoyable watch but the grandstanding was distracting. 7/10

The last line of this movie is, for me, one of the saddest final lines of any movie I have ever seen. I also think , not giving any details, that what the editor of the newspaper does at the end is completely wrong, westerners would have loved that story. A great western, have seen more than once, will watch again sometime I'm sure.
