I tired watching this a few times when i was 14 and a few more when a was 15, i couldn't get pass the first episode, i didn't really understand it, now i'm 16 and i understand, the show is brilliant. I love the fact that it doesn't take sides and is pretty realistic, every episode is a joy to watch, its got everything, the cops, the criminals, the politicians, the lawyers, it even takes a look in the education system and the media, we get to see everything happen and we get to see everyone's side, its pretty fair. It used to be hard to pick my favorite show because there is so much to pick from but this is without a doubt my favorite show.

This would be the best TV show ever created if it wasn't for breaking bad. Simply an amazing work of art.

The Wire is by far the best show I've ever seen, because it doesn't fool around or take sides. It's very real, very raw and unforgiving. It shows you an unbiased view of all the players, including the criminals and their families, the politicians, the law enforcement and even everyday working people, to an extent I've never seen since or otherwise. The one thing that sets this HBO original apart from the others is it's realism. It captures Baltimore's along with various other cities plight with crime and the lack of support from judicial entities so accurately it's almost a documentary. 10/10

Like many other reviewers have stated, this show took a little time to reel me in and I sort of struggled through the first season a bit wondering what all the fuss was about, but now I'm about to start the 3rd season and I'm completely hooked. It is a very realistic, well written and well acted show. Can't wait to see what comes next with each episode. Omar is without a doubt my favorite character so far. I'd love to see the actor who plays him in a Tarantino movie someday; he's an utter badass.

Everyone used to talk about "The Wire" and what a great show it was. Growing up without HBO, I never got to sit down and watch it. However, I got in the first episode wondering how it was going to go. By the 2nd one, boom! This show takes off with the superb writing and a cast that is perfect for this drama. If you want to watch a show that doesn't cut corners and shows the realism of drug use and police work, tune in. 10/10

One of the most underrated and best TV Shows of all time. Just give it a couple of episodes and you'll find yourself addicted.

Hands down the greatest show ever created. The plot points, story arcs, and gripping realism make this the most dynamic, original, and compelling drama to ever hit the TV. Although... I dont believe this show got the credit it deserved when it was airing. Mainly due to the popularity of other shows that were airing around the same time. With Baltimore set as the urban wasteland where the series takes place, and David Simons' choice to use local talent as a bulk of the secondary characters, the show immediately struck me as something truly remarkable. A fun fact: Harvard actually offers a course based around the series writing style and cross plots. Not enough can be said about "The Wire". It also has great rewatchability. 5/5!!

I LOVE THIS SHOW. It's pretty realistic. it's better then the sopranos, house, the closer and so on and very underrated. The plot is intelligent. It's not just about selling the drugs and the police catching the dealers, but also about the politics behind all of this and a peak of life in the projects and how the drugs affects the people living there. i think there is so much more to explore and tell about all the characters and think there is room for more. i was so sad it ended. finally a show were a lot of black actors had a chance to shine and show there acting skills. well done!! to the whole cast.

Without a doubt, this is the best show I've ever seen, well, tied with "Band of Brothers" anyway.

If you haven't watched it, you need to. Stunning writing, great characters. 9/10 easily. A few weak points a long the way, but for so many episodes they can be over looked. Loved it.

This show really makes me wonder sometimes about the intelligence of the individual cogs comprising the political and bureaucratic machines. Perhaps the most astute individual in the entire series is Detective Freamon, who has been portrayed as the most logical and insightful character of the entire cast. Those many characters ensconced in their position within overarching bureaucratic system appear incapable of looking past their duties, even when covering up their own transgressions. Applying an 'if I can't see you then you can't see me' mentality that defies all logic. And yet, it appears to persist. In this one aspect, this show most certainly gratifies the drug dealers, in that at the very least they employ the use of fluid thinking and reasoning. However accurately or inaccurately this may be when reflected upon reality, the political and bureaucratic entities most certainly are cause for concern within this construct. That said, this was a great first season, I had not previously seen the series before, and have found it to be very entertaining.

This is the best cop show ever!!! There are alot of characters to love and hate, you kind of get drawn into the show as it goes on... A very intelligent plot with lots of twists and turns... The producer of the show was an ex cop/ex teacher/ex writer for a newspaper, So with that said enjoy the next 5 seasons of THE WIRE, it is the most realistic series ever made!!!

I've binged it for days after years of hearing how great it is; well, it's a little too procedural, rough-cut and NOT "the greatest show ever created", BUT it has its moments, some good characters and mostly it's got a LOT of range in cross-cutting urban reality from top to bottom and through soldiers and scum on both sides. It shines in season 1, 4 and 5, though the 2nd sucks as well as the newspaper "drama" in the 5th (like, who gives a shit?) Italian names are mispronounced as usual: Carcetti should sound with a sweet "c" (like in "cherry") while Colicchio should sound with a hard "ch" (like in "Cochran"). All in all, a solid show to I.V. on. ★★★½☆☆
