I thought that this whole Earth killing asteroid problem was solved back in '98 by Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck....?

Birthday party, cheescake, jellybean It's the end of the world as we know it...and i feel fine! Well, it has started with good intent. The acting is fine, natural and flows well. It doesn'y have that "syfy channel" vibe to it so that's a plus. You know what's going to happen dont you? Yup, it will get better and better as the season progresses. There will be an "out of this world" season finale and then...and then...and then, the network will cancel it. No rhyme or reason and we will be left hanging forever

I'm not sure why so many people are commenting negatively because the show is including a level of drama. This isn't a hard action like the movie ''Armageddon'' where they already have a viable plan source and laid out and they're just focused on implementing the solution. In ''Salvation'' they are literally trying to develop the technology to save the planet as well as dealing with a typically knee-jerk reactive government and the pressure/stress of the enormity of it all. Every episode has a combination of drama, action, mystery, and sci-fi in varying degrees which in the end makes it a very well rounded show. It's only 6 episodes in so they're still filling in backstories, etc. but personally I think if enough people give it time to develop it'll be a series that'll have a solid foundation for coming seasons to work with.

It's probably wrong...but I wish the meteor would hit this television show.

After watching the first two episodes, I have to say that the words "dog" and "turd" would have fair usage in any genuine description of this show.

Nope my mistake, Rapidly became snooze fest and bitchy characters to boot. Not wasting anymore time on it.

Despite all the negative comments about "drama" and such, this is a very well put together show. It's not for everyone. It's not a show that would allow you to turn your brain off for 30 minutes while watching cheesy special effects and explosions. It's one of the shows that explore the complexity of power cliques, international politics, and personal relationships. It doesn't deal in black and white. It's all in different shades of gray, and one episode's bad guy can turn into the next episode's good guy, because that's how fluid the concept of "good" is. As the show presents us with progressing story and we learn more about the elements, our perception of good changes. It always starts with "us" being the good guys, right? But seven episodes into the series, are we really? These are some of the themes presented by the show, and the asteroid only serves as a catalyst for the entire story. I don't expect to see the impact and exodus of the 160 chosen, I am not expecting grand sci-fi visual effects. The show is great in what it does. It's not a run of the mill space science fiction, and I fully understand that hose who approach it as such are disappointed. But then, the problem is in their expectations, not in the show itself.

Love the concept, but not the characters. Granted, I only saw the pilot, but it was enough to discourage me from watching more episodes. The characters are smug and just completely unrelateable.

I'm sorry but this show sucks ass! I loved the pilot episode but after that it just drags and can't decide if its a boring soap opera or try hard scifi.

Big bad Government V Academia V Profit Inc. Add apocalypse and romance. Not bad.

I would say there is no way in HELL this dumpster fire gets a season 2. BUT...this is CBS after all and they gave 3 seasons to Under the Dome. They think the nerd show is 'comedy' and they renew garbage all the time. Nothing to be surprised about at this point.

In episode 10 they stole the storyline from Designated Survivor now they are increasing the soap opera storylines. I counted 5 troubled relationships in episode 11 which means too much time spent getting teary eyed over lost love etc and not enough time spent saving the world with some sci-fi stuff. Did the writers run out of ideas so they just decided to 'play it safe' by stealing a conspiracy idea and adding more soap opera or are they just lazy?

Pretty good pilot and it didn't have a cheesy feel, which was a pleasant surprise. What was annoying was that the opening credits were still rolling 17 minutes in. That has to be some kind of record.

Got stupid very quickly, though it has held it's demo steady throughout so it'll probably get a 2nd season.

If they ever go to Mars, and the end of Earth happens, I might pick the show back up, but as of now I am done. When they went to Russia with all the Drama there - I thought, nope not for me anymore. I need more to sink my teeth into !!! This is becoming more of a soap opera than a sci-fi, Thriller.

It's turning into a soap opera on steroids.STOP IT! Edit: Well even with the superfluous added drama it's still better than anything else offered this summer. But that's just my opinion.

might be better if there was a little science behind some of the decisions, letting a billion people die directly to hits would cause a severe ice age and kill anything living on the planet, it would NOT be a viable option. A little thought could have gone a long way in that regard, at least someone bring it up and let idiot politicians not believe it.
