Love this Alaskan Wilderness Family, Very Raw and Real. Just plain down to earth with Lots of Love and very exciting to watch. Great TV series. Love it. Otto is a really nutty, funny, crazy, yet very resourceful kind of guy he is always making the show worth watching. Autz his brother, is a cowboy, hunter, warrior, and do it yourself kind of guy. Both of their sons are a credit to the tv series and are fun and interesting to watch. Worth the watch.

I am surprised that no one has googled this family. They are all multi, multi, millionaires. They are not some poor family trying hard to carve out a living in the Alaska wild. These people are all filthy stinking rich, and simply choose to live this rustic lifestyle.

Born in the inner city, this show really has helped me be more creative around the exterior of my home, now in the suburbs. I built my own fence, drink beers around fires made of brush, and currently working on gathering materials for a greenhouse to protect my harvest from annoying critters. Cold and mountains of snow, doesn't seem to bother me nearly as much as before. Very informative television. 5/5

I am thinking that there are people (NOT) just big business that are trying to shut this show down.. EVERY single positive comment about this show has been sent a NEGATIVE rating and comment. That is weird. It seems that NSA has infiltrated this site and is sending negative information. Why every positive comment has been horribly voted down.. I hope that the powers that be will stop the find the NSA NAZI posters .. sending this on to everybody and get a efghing life anal retarded idiots . JUST TRy and control what is on this site

They make it out to be a great rush when it is no harder than what I am doing. I cut the firewood for the year , fish and hunt for food. You will notice how they portray each one of their tasks as urgent and required when it is easily noticed (by me being as I am in the same scenario) that often they go hunting for enjoyment or break from life daily grind. So many of their "extremely needed hunted meat trip" is not finically smart, gas for a quad and driving 6 hours just to catch a few tiny trout does not make sense or taking a 150mile one way trip to hunt small black tail deer. . . I can understand the need to get away for a vacation and that is most likely what they are doing however the producers change that. Another point is that it is never mentioned how they make money but a quick adding up equipment in my head comes to easily over $400,000 and most likely much more. I am not kicking dirt at them, they seem to be the salt of the earth however they are portrayed as some that live way off in the middle of no where . I tend to think they do a lot of work off the farm, most folks don't have excavators bull dozers and machine shop in the garage just to have on a farm that is a PILE of overhead that needs to be worked to pay for itself. Decent show though , has given me a few ideas how to cut down a few costs. I too am a hybrid homesteader, have my own gardens , raise my own chickens for meat and the wife and I run our own businesses at home. I own tundra chainsaw R & A and enjoy dealing with locals like the kilchers that have humour and a easy laid back nature .

This show, might as well just film any north Canadian farm, same thing, nothing special here.

The show is starting to get repetitive in my opinion. How many times can you excited over driving cattle from or to the head of the bay and the "homestead". Twice a season so season 1-3 totals 6 times. Add another cattle drive early in season 4 - That makes 7 cattle drives... The show suckers you into believing they are on the edge of the frontier...They are not. They live on a gravel road with town about 20 miles away. You don't see the vehicles in the show. Google map search for Kilcher road and you will see how close to town they really are. The show leads you to believe the Kilcher's lively hood is in jeopardy if they lose a cow to the bears....Hogwash does a search on celebrity net worth and Atz and Otto are both worth more than 4 million.
