Why do people keep comparing this show to the BBC's Sherlock? They are two different shows, for crying out loud. And as constrained as 42 minutes of American TV are -against the 59 minutes of a one hour show on the Beeb- this show is putting a very good effort forward. Lucy is a GREAT Watson and Jonny Lee is a very capable actor with a great emotional range. They can both convince you of their words and these two are great together. Grow up and stop comparing apples to oranges.

Obviously, the acting and witty dialogue are great in this show, but I really have to credit it for its representation of mental illness. It doesn't avoid it and it doesn't glamorize it. It tackles it in a realistic and responsible way. That is quite rare and extremely important.

I think it's funny that people are talking about how much happier they are now that Watson is dressing differently, saying that her wardrobe was horrible and stuff like that. You do realize she was wearing every day, normal clothing, right? She's not playing a rich, famous, actress or model. She's playing a sober companion. The hell do you want her to wear? Prada? Anyway, now that rant is over.... I really enjoy this show. I actually watched the other Sherlock show before I even knew about this one and I must say I prefer the other character better than this actor/portrayal, but this is still incredibly well done and thought out :) Adding Lucy Liu to the mix as Watson only makes it that much better! Can't wait to see more.

if you go back to the very beginning of these comments you might see my comment saying meh to this show. i would like to take that statement back and say that this show is one of these shows that grows on you and kicks you in the pants after the second episode and keeps on doing it episode after episode. i actually really really like this show now. give it a try.

I couldn't care less about the connection between this show and the work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I wish they could change the name of the characters. It has grown on its own and it's a reference on itself. Great acting, the script unfortunately has shown difficulties keeping up with the complexity the actors've given to the characters. But i think they are finally getting the message. For all the people who think awards mean good acting and can't judge it on their own, put your eyes on John Lee Miller: that's what a true actor looks like.

As others have stated already, despite being inspired by the same titular character, Elementary and Sherlock are very different shows. It's pointless to argue about which version is better because both of them bring a different interpretation of this enigmatic character quite successfully. And obviously, there are many other interpretations of this character. Sherlock Holmes is immortal.

jonny lee miller plays a vulnerable and perceptive Sherlock without the usual cliched mannerisms, its a really good approach - apologies to jeremy brett who is a classic!!

Very different take on Sherlock. Really like it, though not as good as BBC Sherlock. Still eagerly waiting for new season on both

Watched all of them, though it was mostly a way to get my Sherlock fix until the next episode of Sherlock came out. Any fan of Sherlock should watch if they are looking for something other than creeping on Tumblr to do.

It's not that bad. It's definitely not up to par with BBC's Sherlock series, but if you can watch it without comparing the two you might be surprised. I'm at least willing to give it a few episodes before I write it off, as it's one of the few CBS shows that interest me.

I love Lucy Liu and JLM. They have some Serious Chemistry as Holmes and Watson. And I don't mean a lovers type of chemistry: Just Chemistry. Lucy's understated, soft and serene demeanor is the perfect offset to Miller's hyperactive character. They go together like a perfect puzzle piece. As for the silly warring between Elementary and Sherlock, I repeat the famous words of Rodney King: Can't we all just get along?

I slept on this show for way to long for some reason. I tried to watch few times and just didn't but when I finally got into I realized what a fool I was. I blew threw the first two seasons, and I have to say there is nothing like it on Television right now. The dynamics between the cast is awesome, and episode 12 of season three, had a brother straight up emotional.
