Why do people keep comparing this show to the BBC's Sherlock? They are two different shows, for crying out loud. And as constrained as 42 minutes of American TV are -against the 59 minutes of a one hour show on the Beeb- this show is putting a very good effort forward. Lucy is a GREAT Watson and Jonny Lee is a very capable actor with a great emotional range. They can both convince you of their words and these two are great together. Grow up and stop comparing apples to oranges.

Obviously, the acting and witty dialogue are great in this show, but I really have to credit it for its representation of mental illness. It doesn't avoid it and it doesn't glamorize it. It tackles it in a realistic and responsible way. That is quite rare and extremely important.

if you go back to the very beginning of these comments you might see my comment saying meh to this show. i would like to take that statement back and say that this show is one of these shows that grows on you and kicks you in the pants after the second episode and keeps on doing it episode after episode. i actually really really like this show now. give it a try.

I think it's funny that people are talking about how much happier they are now that Watson is dressing differently, saying that her wardrobe was horrible and stuff like that. You do realize she was wearing every day, normal clothing, right? She's not playing a rich, famous, actress or model. She's playing a sober companion. The hell do you want her to wear? Prada? Anyway, now that rant is over.... I really enjoy this show. I actually watched the other Sherlock show before I even knew about this one and I must say I prefer the other character better than this actor/portrayal, but this is still incredibly well done and thought out :) Adding Lucy Liu to the mix as Watson only makes it that much better! Can't wait to see more.

My one rant about this show - which I enjoy immensely - is that Sherlock GUESSES too much instead of using deduction. Yep, you heard me right. How many conclusions does he jump to prematurely in any episode? 3? 8? The Sherlock Holmes I know wouldn't go on so many evidence wild goose chases. But at least they don't hang them out there as red herrings. Each one is dealt with almost immediately. In whodunits they leave them hanging tout there with a gotcha at the end because you the audience didn't know which red herrings were important and which were sucker jobs. Here they deal with them readily. Someone mentioned mental disorders. And someone mentioned how such shows devolve in season 4 into family and psychological problems. the OTHER Sherlock certainly did that this year. Shame on them - BORING!!!!! I couldn't make it through the last two shows - while THIS one keeps chugging along. Lucy Liu is doing just fine. WTF does her wardrobe have to do with the show or the character? Nothing. Do I check out her ass at least once per episode? Yep. Nice ass. Then, that out of the way, I can enjoy the show.

jonny lee miller plays a vulnerable and perceptive Sherlock without the usual cliched mannerisms, its a really good approach - apologies to jeremy brett who is a classic!!

Whats really starting to piss me off about my favorite show on tv right now? 27 different directors and 27 different writers (not including Doyle) since the show started. Most dont even stick around for more than one episode! And its REALLY starting to show! What in the fuck are they doing? Are they intentionally experimenting with such a great show, or are they just trying to ruin it???

When this show started, I watched for Ms. Liu - I was impressed w/ her previous roles in certain barely clothed roles. I had never heard of Mr. Miller. The first couple episodes I had mixed feelings regarding his performances. I was also skeptical of the idea of a NYC setting as well as the changed Sherlock/Watson relationship. I hung in there and by the end of season 1 I was surprised to learn that it was fast becoming one of my prefered shows. Now it is one of the shows I most look forward to each week. ////// I guess I'm saying that this show can really grow on a person if you give it a bit of time.

Watched all of them, though it was mostly a way to get my Sherlock fix until the next episode of Sherlock came out. Any fan of Sherlock should watch if they are looking for something other than creeping on Tumblr to do.

One of my favorite shows since it hit the air. The duality of Sherlock's drug addiction and growing passion for humanity is complex, intriguing, and inspiring. Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu are both amazing in this show, keep em coming.

Sherlock as a woman would have been fun, this just feels like another Monk, or Endgame, or, y'know...Sherlock.

Long awaited as I so love this show, Johnny Lee Miller has to be the est Sherlock Holmes I've ever seen portraying the part... Elementary Season 6 will premiere on April 30, once Scorpion has finished for the season.

Season 6 will air in the spring of 2018, according to Variety. 'CBS has ordered eight additional episodes of “Elementary” ahead of the show’s sixth season premiere, Variety has confirmed.' The sixth season will now run for a total of 21 episodes and will debut at midseason. It does not have a premiere date or a timeslot at this time, though the show most recently aired on Sundays. That could mean it is positioned to take the place of freshman Sunday night drama “Wisdom of the Crowd,” which the network recently announced would end after its initial 13 episode order. This also marks the first time that “Elementary” it will not air a 24-episode season, and also the first time it will begin airing in the spring.'

Great to have the show back for another season. This is very unusual for me tbh, but I absolutely love and much prefer this current American TV show take on S.Holmes and J.Watson to the current British Holmes and Watson TV show called ''Sherlock''. With its most irritating floating text of thought processes and even text messages. Sherlock Holmes is as British as they come, for an American version to out-do the Brits with a concurrent TV show is absolutely atrocious. That said, I still have to say once again - I absolutely love this TV show and its make-up, especially the twist of a female J.Watson. Brilliant!
