Black Mirror: Charlie Brooker (E4's Bafta-nominated Dead Set author) returns with Black Mirror, a suspenseful, satirical three-part mini-series that taps into collective unease about our modern world. Over the last ten years, technology has transformed almost every aspect of our lives before we've had time to stop and question it. In every home; on every desk; in every palm - a plasma screen; a monitor; a smartphone - a black mirror of our 21st Century existence. Our grip on reality is shifting. We worship at the altars of Google and Apple. Facebook algorithms know us more intimately than our own parents. We have access to all the information in the world, but no brainspace left to absorb anything longer than a 140-character tweet. Black Mirror is a hybrid of The Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected which taps into our contemporary unease about our modern world. The three stand-alone dramas will be sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales with a techno-paranoia bent - all audacious 'what if' stories: some comic, some shocking.

One of the most chilling things I've seen in a very long time and not a drop of blood seen anywhere. Fantastically twisted! Enjoy!

i agree with amandargh.. i burned through this series in a day. loved every episode, but this one left a really nasty taste in my mouth. that could be the intent i suppose. i get the debate over capital punishment... i have fortunately never had a 'direct' reason to think one way or the other, so i have never really given it much thought. but capital torture... that's a kind of insanity that i couldn't really stomach. but perhaps that is a testament to how brilliantly executed and effective this show is, as i have watched plenty of sick twisted horror movies, and never flinched..even chuckled at a few of them for how over the top they were. yet this one got to me. perhaps that was the point?

fantastic episode, just mind blowing. i have seen some facebook videos of people in brazil who had just been shot. a lady and her little daughter, about 7 years old both bleeding to death in a car from gunshot wounds. and everyone just stands around recording and robbing the woman. it was heartbreaking to watch that little girl die whilst everyone just stood there. this ep reminded me of that. how heartless people can be

That was just sick and twisted. I dont care what you're guilty of, nobody deserves to be tortured like that...

What an honest statement of todays reality. I am still sitting here with gaping mouth going WOW. Would you video tape or would you help?

I had panic attacks after watching this episode. Human race is cruel

I think it makes sense to think about the way we feel about that girl, living a inhuman existence for others' entertainment. Watching this, I think the natural reaction is to feel compassion for her and disgust for those who are putting her through this. In real life, however, people have the tendency to be harsh and even cruel. It is common to hear "criminals should be beaten to death" or "criminals should be killed". I would like to suggest a reflection on compassion between human beings, remembering we could commit a crime if we were in a different situation.

I thought that this story was perfectly executed and had me guessing right up until its big reveal. I wish I could write like Brooker, perhaps then I could articulate myself enough to post a worthwhile comment about this episode. 10/10

This was absolute madness. I was engaged throughout the episode and kept guessing. I will say, however, that I'm not quite convinced that the protagonist deserved what she got. The spectators were onboard from the get go and were willing to participate in the creation of a complete HELL without knowing 100% of the facts. Perhaps that was the episode's purpose, to show how we are willing to deal in cruelty so long as it is masquerades as justice. How they used technology every night to create HELL was, again, absolute madness, yet, completely believable.

I had a tough time assigning blame to technology in this one but didn't have a hard time at all tying the human condition and our obsession with technology to it. I doubt seriously if even a fraction of a percent of the population pays attention to punishment for heinous crimes BUT if we could tie them to Twitter, youtube, cell phone images attention would explode into the millions -- offer participation? OMG Add to that attendance at a uniquely gratifying form of punishment? a punishment much like dying over and over and over again until the brain suffers a meltdown? Oh yeah, I'm THAT sick individual.

Good episode as always. This show really goes into the worst parts of us. My only issue with this episode was the amount of crying got irritating after a while, but it was also realistic.

what an interesting concept for child killers. Need one for pedifiles as well. Reminded me of something u would see on the twilight zone but better. Great Epi!

I've enjoyed the previous episodes, they have that nice little touch of twisted I like, but this was probably the most bent episode to date. My favorite too. 5/5

Wow, blew my mind! Had to watch it 2x to comprehend the concept. Agree with poster Shelaar...Sick, Twisted, Chilling and graphic--all without a drop of blood...would make Hitchcock exceptionally proud. Enjoy!

Wow, this one really makes you think. After reading the comments I have to say that after watching it I wasn't really focused on our obsession with technology, I was more thinking about what if this kind of torture was accepted in our society for murders/rapers/whatever. It isn't and shouldn't of course, she is a human being. We couldn't let that happen, but you know if it was my kid I would be talking very different. It reminds me of how cruel and dark humans can be.

White bear Justice.... I would not be surprised if that actually became a thing in the future. Another great episode.
