This series has proven the test of time. The entire cast has something to offer the story lines, even when they recycle the actors. Even though the story lines from time to time mimic other series it still comes across with it's own original appeal. The historic villages and architecture as a backdrop just make it even better.

Great series if your tired of the flash/bang and tire squeals type of detective shows. Have watched whole series at least twice and go back to old favorite episodes every now and again. Wouldn't like to live in that county though, surprised they still have a population atall, the rate they get knocked off at!

Great show, i miss the first inspector B and his family, but the new B, well at least its staying in the family lol. Toms cousin isnt so bad and his wife seems cool and the dog is a cutie. I like seeing the new sgts. as the years go by but one does kinda miss the old ones. Its a changing show, but good writing , characters and good mystery plots seem to still be a big part of it thank goodness and ill be watching more of the newer seasons with this new Barnany and co.

Love the series, miss John Nettles, but not Cully and Mrs. B. Like Neil Dudgeon, but love his dog. Reminds me of the old Thin Man movies with Asta playing such a big part. Sykes is super. And Ben Jones is my favorite of the sargeants - love him, love him, love him. I like most of the British cop shows because they are more about brains than about guns and car chases.

what I really really enjoy about this series is the infinite twist and turns, nooks and crannies it broaches with the story and the characters involved, always adding one up when you thought you were sure about everyone...the absence to be loud, flashy, showy, in your face and ... oh, well, and yes, of course... the most funny and amazing actor Sykes, the dog ;)

I thoroughly enjoy this well written classy show. It is a shame that John Nettles has left the show. The goings on in the Barnaby family were a really enjoyable part of the show for me as well as the case. I found that Barnaby's wife Joyce and daughter Cully added another layer to an already complex show. Here's to the hope that the BBC will continue to produce this wonderful show.

one of the best shows in this genre. but i must say in some older series the ways of killing was pretty inventive even disturbing. As previously stated by others, not as good as with Barnaby's family but it is still watchable. Nothing lasts forever.;-)
