Spoilers ahead. Sorry. Unpopular opinion. This was just as cheesy & predictable as Hallmark movies are, and I've watched a lot of them. Small fish, big pond, and a big bad boss that challenges you. Except my expectations were high here, and all it did was disappoint. Poor Andrea, boo-hoo. Supposedly intelligent yet so naive that I just had to roll my eyes over & over at her decisions. I'm reading her friends weren't supportive enough - was she supportive back? If she didn't have time for her boyfriend's birthday, something tells me she didn't know jack squat about the lives of her friends once she got busy. When a friend's schedule/personality changes, your relationship changes. That's just the way it is. Her priorities shifted and no longer aligned with the priorities of her friends. Good for her. But out of sight, out of mind. She can't expect them to sit there missing her all the time, or be the kind of people who "understand" her new role. She didn't understand it before, either. And I also don't agree with the hate on Nate. Every night he had to listen to Andy complain about her job. And then she quits and he thinks that's great, because hell, she's the one who hates it & stresses over it constantly. But how does that translate to him being happy she's not getting ahead? It simply happens in real life - you're dating someone and they change, but you don't. Not his fault. Not her fault. Then she sleeps with another guy. Ok, they were on a break, but she clearly did not love her boyfriend. That guy was all about getting laid with her from the moment they met, and she was stupid to fall for it. I hate stupid characters. He's all - come hither, have a drink, and she's a deer in headlights not having the wits to get out of the situation. How is she even surviving in NYC? Basically, I think Andy was ridiculous. Unpopular opinion as it may be, I could not stand this movie because I hate protagonists like her.

Fun film, great music, but it makes not much sense to me.(slight spoilers follow) How does she expect to be a journalist? What would she do if there was an unscheduled White House Press Conference and it was her boy friends birthday? Skip it? Maybe I am old fashioned, but I don't think anyone owns a job. The most qualified people are the ones that should be chosen, so I wouldn't have felt bad for taking Emily's place. This movie is pretty much telling you to put your career last behind boyfriend, drinking beer with loser friends, and even making sure your co workers get ahead of you. Bad advice. But a great film, anyhow. Meryl Streep is worth it! And the clothing is just as lovely to see now as when the film was made! And the "Mentalist" guy is so hot!

One of my absolute favorites. Meryl Streep looks amazing and does just as good of a job, Anne as well.

Great movie. Meryl Streep does no wrong in anything that she portrays one of the greatest veteran actresses of our generation. Anne Hathaway was good too. A film about someone with no confidence finally gets what she was seeking in the end. 10/10

This may be be referred as a "chick flick". but for anyone whom has worked for an "A" type personality boss, they will find that this film hits the nail on the head. I think this film was Meryl Streep's shining moment, i.e. the best role she has ever played. The play between Streep and Hathaway is just perfect. A good watch....
