The greatest Lovecraftian movie ever, and it is not even based on any particular H.P.Lovecraft story.

Vintage horror movie from Carpenter with elementary special effects and story line....only twenty years have passed but for some of the acting and directing feels like fifty at least...but in the end you are left with a smile on how naive we were...amazing trip down memory lane,7/10.

I recall watching this on HBO or something when I was like 12 recalled the ending and parts throughout it was definitely much more frightening back then for obvious reasons. I was 12 it was new and the graphics were not decades past its prime. I found it amusing rewatching as an adult would be one great movie to remake with a slight story tweak and modern graphics it would actually be scary as shit. I would prefer a storyline in the world at the end of the movie him surviving john trent or anyone surviving with new graphics in the world that went totally apeshit.

This movie i consider to be in my top 100 movies, obviously based in a Lovecraftian nightmare Carpenter also pays tribute to Stephen King and Nigel Kneale the creator of Quatermass.Sam Neill plays the part of cynical insurance investigator John Trent hired to find the horror author Sutter Cane, but he gets more than he bargained for when reality begins to collapse and he finds himself trapped in the authors nightmare,10/10.

Great film 10/10 highly original. Among the films with a Lovecraft theme this is the best but I think the people who don't like him will still enjoy it. I dont know why the faces are blue in most versions if not all, the characters look like the smurfs.
