i was scared to see this movie because I thought it would just hurt too deep, yet it was so well done it's unfortunate it is not a teaching movie to use in the school system. There are bad things that happen to good people I have learned myself, yet this movie was real and actually showed how a higher good can happen. I am glad I finally had the courage and opportunity to watch such fine actors portray the good and the bad. It made me want to be a teacher again.

An amazing expose on a massive part of society that are simply dismissed and ignored. I found it heart wrenching and inspirational. A must watch for those more blessed with environmental and emotional support normally taken for granted. A very well acted, directed, and frankly depressing film. Sometimes man's inhumanity to man is almost incomprehensible. It's easy to tune it out sooner than face it, but often exceptional people like Oprah, are able to do exactly that. I don't think I could or would watch it again ... but a SOLID 10/10

The book was soo hard to read, but I think the movie does a good job of sticking to the storyline.

A twisted story but beautifully portrayed. You feel all the emotions poor Precious feels. Very tragic.

Just a glimpse into one life affected by Northeastern America's many concrete chutes, ladders, and quicksand traps every youth encounters. The canopy of the concrete jungles are sought and dreamed of but the truth is at any wrong combination of reactions adhere people to jungle floor, which is filled daily with failures that in the least will only aspire to a sentence in the obituary pages..... 5/5

i know that alot of people put this movie down and made fun of it but it was very good and i feel as though that this is a must see movie and it is very sad that things like this happen every day but unfortunately some of them do not have such a "happy" ending....all in all a 10/10

This is a really excellent film, it kept my attention all the way through which is more than I can say for a lot of films. I fell in love with Precious within the first 5 minutes and she didn't disappoint. Anyone who enjoys human interest films with a good plot should watch this. I don't know who this actress is but I'd like to see more of her work.

this film was so moving and incredibly sad.. its not often things bring me to tears but this certainly did. the acting was superb and as commented below i also hope this is not based ona true story... one thing i do disagree with though is that this IS DEFINITELY a film to watch when you feel low...not when you are in a good mood..it puts your own life into perspective. This happens in real life all the time, abuse etc from so caled parents...makes me realise i have had such a good upbringing with loving and caring family but for some reason I FUCK MY LIFE UP THROUGH ADDICTION.... i bet precious would have loved to have had the start in life i've had...i feel very humble and selfish to who i've hurt..this film has been a real eye opener..11 outta 10.WATCH IT!!!!

A very difficult film for me to watch, as it hits home with a lot of parallels to my life. If this film didn't make you angry, sad, and/or repulsed by some of the things in it, I'm not certain if you are human...
